Weekend's Best Bets

All the King's men

When GO! interviewed Ed Enoch of The Stamps Quartet fame severalyears back, it was just three days away from the 28th anniversary ofElvis Presley's death. The anniversary was no small matter: Enoch andthe group had been Presley's concert backup singers for seven yearsat the time the King passed. Once called "the most powerful and bestlead voice in gospel music," Enoch and The Stamps were in town toperform a fundraising concert for Bloomington's Clare House foodpantry. They're coming back to perform the same service this weekend:at 7 p.m. Saturday in Bloomington's Trinity Lutheran Church.Admission is free, though a donation of nonperishable food items tostock the Clare House pantry shelves is requested.

Who ya gonna call?

Fans of The Discovery Channel's ever-popular series, MythBusters, know the name of their game: Each hour-long episode is devoted towrestling two or three popular myths, from urban legends to Internetbabble, to the mat. They're rendered down and out by cold, hard, scientific fact. Then again, sometimes the myths gain the upper handand are proven to be part of that same cold, hard, scientific fact.In other words: it's a hit-or-myth kinda series. For fans wanting tosample the procedure outside the confines of their TV sets, a touringedition of MythBusters will be on the campus of Illinois StateUniversity this weekend - at 7 p.m. Saturday in Braden Auditorium.Admission is free.
