NSW: Hunt begins for world's longest gum leaf

ALBURY, Jan 13 AAP - The hunt is on for the world's longest gum leaf.

In the picturesque town of Mt Beauty, at the foothills of Victoria's Alpine countryin the state's north-east, locals and visitors are on the lookout for a freak of nature.

It's all for a competition started by Mt Beauty woman Carol Johnstone who thought itwould be a nice, easy thing for visitors to do.

"It doesn't cost anything, no public liability is involved and people have been reallyenjoying it," she said today.
