Vic: Two die in car crash
Victoria's road toll took a dramatic rise last night as another two people died in
a car crash in Melbourne's south-east.
The male and female, both in their late teens, were backseat passengers in a car which
crashed into a concrete telegraph pole.
The accident happened on the Princes Highway and Blackburn Road in Clayton after 11pm (AEDT).
Three other people in the car, all males in their teens and early 20s, were taken to
the Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Metropolitan Ambulance spokesman JAMES HOWE says the impact of the car caused the telegraph
pole to break in half.
The latest accident takes yesterday's road-toll for Victoria to four.
Earlier in the day a crash between a car and truck in Shepparton killed a woman, and
a man died after his car hit a tree at Panton Hill.
Victoria's Christmas road toll now stands at nine and the total road toll for the year
is 329 compared to 381 at the same time last year.
