Devakī The mother of the Hindu Lord Kṛṣṇa (see Kṛṣṇa), Devakī was the sister or cousin of King Kaṃsa (see Kaṃsa) who, like the Greek Kronos, killed his children as they were born because of a prophecy that one of them would kill him. Kṛṣṇa was saved when he was exchanged with the daughter of the herdsman Nanda (see Nanda), who served as his surrogate father.
